“This isn’t just another trip — it’s the most amazing adventure I have ever undertaken.”– Chris, 2025 Arctic Basecamp Guest

In a world overflowing with travel experiences, it takes something truly extraordinary to stand out. For Chris — a seasoned world traveler who’s ventured to nearly every corner of the globe — that something was our Arctic Basecamp dog sledding expedition, deep in the Alaskan wilderness.

If you’re searching for a transformative, soul-stirring Arctic adventure, you just found it.

Welcome to the Real Arctic: The Brooks Range and Beyond

This is not your typical dog sledding tour.

Our multi-day Arctic Basecamp trip takes place on the edge of the Brooks Range, a place where the pavement ends and wild Alaska begins. Flanked by Gates of the Arctic National Park and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, this remote region offers some of the most stunning and untouched wilderness left on Earth.

Chris described it best:

“The location alone is worth the journey… remote, untamed, and utterly stunning.”

Over the course of a week, our small group of guests travels 15–20 miles a day by dog team, venturing through snow-draped valleys, windswept passes, and frozen rivers. Along the way, they may spot herds of migrating caribou, the tracks of a wolverine, or the quiet flutter of a ptarmigan rising from the willows.

More Than Transportation: The Power of the Dog Team

At the heart of this experience is the dogs. Guests don’t just ride — they mush. Each participant learns how to guide their own team of five incredible Siberian Huskies, gaining hands-on experience in traditional dog sledding techniques.

“These dogs are not just a mode of transport,” Chris wrote. “They are beautiful, intelligent athletes… learning the art of mushing and caring for them under expert guidance created a deep connection.”

Our huskies are more than sled dogs — they’re our family. We keep them for life, train them with care, and match each guest with a team that suits their comfort and goals. For many, the bond formed with their dog team becomes the most meaningful part of the journey.

Rugged Adventure Meets Surprising Comfort

You might expect that an Arctic expedition this remote would mean roughing it — but that’s not the case.

Our guests stay in heated Arctic Oven tents equipped with insulated sleeping bags, comfortable cots, and enough warmth to keep you cozy even when temperatures drop below -30°F. And the food? Think hearty stews, fresh-baked bread, and campfire meals that rival restaurant quality.

“Expecting basic camp fare, we were treated to plentiful, gourmet meals… a true feat given our isolation,” Chris shared.

We believe adventure and comfort aren’t mutually exclusive — especially when you’re this far off the grid.

Guided by Passion, Fueled by Experience

Your hosts, Lisbet and Nils, are Arctic guides with decades of combined experience in expedition planning, wilderness safety, and dog care. Every trip is carefully crafted for both safety and impact, ensuring that guests feel supported while immersing fully in the wild.

“Their logistical planning is seamless… a masterclass in remote expedition management,” wrote Chris. “We felt safe, supported, and incredibly well cared for.”

Why This Arctic Dog Sledding Trip Is Different

This isn’t a commercial tour with a touristy trail and a script. It’s a true Arctic immersion — one that connects you to the land, the dogs, and yourself.

You’ll wake up to the sound of huskies howling beneath the stars. You’ll pack your sled, lead your team, and feel the cold wind on your face as you mush across frozen ground. At night, you’ll gather in the warm tent, share stories, and fall asleep exhausted and content.

“This trip transcends typical tourism. It’s an immersion, a challenge, a connection, and an education rolled into one unforgettable package.”– Chris
