Dog Sledding & Travel in Alaska

Seasonal Specials

Updated: Dec 22, 2020

We had our first single digit night (8F) at the homestead this week. The sled dogs snuggled into their houses, newly stuffed with fresh straw, and we humans enjoyed a crackling wood fire in the house. The sled dogs are enjoying the cold temps of the last week. They are currently in the "strength training" module of their training program. We are going short distances at slow speeds, building muscle for the upcoming season. Nils is nearly finished the sauna, just some inside trim and grout work remaining. I am still learning how to most responsibly navigate our small business through the pandemic. We are committed to operating safely and responsibly this winter. Our day tours remain private. Our multi day tours will require proof of a negative PCR Covid test. For more information, see our COVID-19 precautions, available here on our website. I have had many requests for custom trips. Being able to adapt the timing of a tour seems to work best for flights and COVID testing this year, so instead of running set tour dates as we've done in the past, I'm blocking off time to allow for the flexible scheduling of private multi day trips and also reducing trip minimums to 2 people (it's been 4 in the past). To be honest, it's hard to make our margins with such small minimums, but instead of closing for the season, we'd like to invite you to join us for some backcountry adventures! I want to encourage private, small-group travel, so am offering some private tour specials, including a 3 Day White Mountains Cabin Trip, a cabin-based dog sledding tour in the western region of the White Mountains National Recreation Area. $1999 per person. Dates available upon request.

For those who want a little more adventure, I recommend our Nome Creek Basecamp. This trip takes you into the stunningly scenic & wild Prindle region of the eastern White Mountains NRA. Amenities include heated Arctic Oven tents & comfortable cots. $1969 per person, dates available upon request. Other 2020 specials: 4 Day Cabin Trip, including orientation*: Starting at $2499 per person. This trip gets you more time on the dog sled. Mush to a cabin deep in the Whites, stay for two nights, and do a day trip (or have a rest day) from the cabin on Day 3.  5 Day Cabin Trip, including a day of orientation*: Starting at $3299 per person. This trip will get you deepest into the backcountry by traveling two days in/two days out, or doing a trailhead to trailhead traverse, depending on cabin availability. * I always recommend an orientation day, and require them for trips that venture deep into the backcountry. You will more fully enjoy your trip with the confidence that comes from a few skills learned at the kennel and a proper gear check, as well as gain the experience needed to safely adventure further into the backcountry. Thinking about taking a trip north this winter or spring?

Take 10% off any 2020/2021 Multi Day Tour if booked by November 1. This early season booking discount will be the only discount on multi day trips offered this season, so act now if you're planning on a multi day trip!

We are committed to operating safely and responsibly this winter. Our day tours remain private. Our multi day tours will require proof of a negative PCR Covid test. For more information, see our COVID-19 precautions, available here on our website.
